I am currently a freshman at Stanford University, studying Classics and Linguistics. I was a homeschool student and began studying Latin at a very young age. That language is now my academic passion. Over the course of several years, I won national awards in Latin and Greek-centered contests for my proficiency in the Classics. I started coaching and tutoring struggling students, and that experience provided a great sense of pride in seeing my students thrive with new knowledge. I enjoy helping people understand and excel and look for any available opportunity to act as a mentor for students in need of a focused attention. I took classes for two years at an area college and worked as a peer tutor in Latin and mathematics. Many of my students continue to show their gratitude for helping them understand and excel in classes they previously had trouble with. I am also skilled at tutoring SAT test preparation and helping students become comfortable with that challenging exam, and perform well. I always strive to get to know a student's initial grasp of knowledge, and tailor my teaching to meet individual learning styles at a progression that ensures success and understanding of the material. I also make sure students know why an answer is correct and show them how to reach that answer in the most efficient ways.
